EXHIBITIONS ACTIVITY - EARLY 2020
The HRM 2mm Group recently took their excellent 'Millsbridge' layout to the annual show of the Normanton & Pontefract Railway Modellers Society in Normanton and came away with the 'Best Layout in the Show Award'. This is another excellent well deserved award to add to those already gained in the last couple of years. Congratulations once again to them!!
At the old clubrooms, members will have noticed that the 16mm group's 'Portmadoc' layout has not yet been dropped and crated. There is a good reason for this. This layout is to be exhibited on 4th April at the very prestigious National Garden Railway Show at Peterborough. Before the pending HQ move became near to reality, group members decided to accept that show's invitation but as a result, the bare boards of the fiddle yard areas of the layout needed some serious modelling attention. Most of that work has now been completed and the layout will very soon be crated and made ready for the move.
The final piece of good news is that the 16mm Group and 'Portmadoc' are going abroad in mid-June, crossing the border into deepest Wales. The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway are holding a 'Fairlie Eventful' gala to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first successful demonstration trials on the FfR of the 'Fairlie' articulated locomotive type. Representatives from across the world were present. As part of this big event on the annual narrow gauge calendar, a narrow gauge themed model railway exhibition is being held in the famous Boston Lodge Carriage Works. HRM is to be represented through the presence of the club's 'Portmadoc' layout - quite a coup for the club and the 16mm Group.
